What will each session be like?

Meetings

At each meeting you are free to work on your own project or on a theme/still life suggested and provided by group members for inspiration. The session will be relaxed and informal. Please note it is not a taught art class and it is anticipated that a mutually supportive atmosphere will be created. The emphasis will be on playful exploration and more experienced pastelists may offer advice if approached.

Please bring your own media, paper, apron and table top easel if you prefer working at an angle. The room will be set out with tables and chairs facing inwards. You may wish to bring a clipboard and masking tape to secure your paper.

For beginners we have some pastels and papers you can try out in your first few sessions before making any purchases. There are many different types and brands so there is no obligation to rush out and buy materials before attending. Fellow classmates can help you see what is available on the market at a suitable price point. In a separate blog post I will recommend some inexpensive starter sets.
