Confetti Flower Field
I’m happiest when I can paint a place that I have visited and spent time at; composing paintings in my mind’s eye as I go. I sketch when I can and take many photographs, for reference for when I’m back in my studio. Nothing beats experiencing the essence of a place- the sounds, colours, textures, weather and scenery. Rather than render a photo-realistic painting I try to express how it felt to be there in that moment. I hope my paintings convey the atmosphere and heady mix of purples, pinks and whites. The turrets of joy delighting the many visitors that day.

I had seen these Delphinium flower fields feature on friends Facebook feeds for a few years and decided it was time to go. working from source and my own photographic references is really important to me.There is something about the architecture of Delphiniums that captivates me and I’m sure I will continue to find myself moved to keep painting them.
