How the Session Went
What a lovely evening! The Painting Trees session on Friday 19th June was a really enjoyable one. Members worked from their own photographs, capturing everything from sweeping summer canopies to more delicate, intricate branch structures. The variety of approaches in the room was brilliant to see.
Everyone used a mix of pastels and techniques — some building up layers of soft pastel to create lush, textured foliage, others using harder pastels or pastel pencils to define branches and trunks with more precision. It was a great reminder of just how versatile pastels can be as a medium.
For anyone new to pastels, materials were available on the night and included in the session price — so there's no need to invest in a full set before you come along and give it a try.
